Complete Nature Scenes with Megascans ( Blender Nature #002 )

I’m going to walk you through my process for creating complete nature scenes with Megascans in Blender.

If you haven’t seen my first post about using Megascans in Blender, check it out here. In this next video, I’m going to be sharing a little of my process for creating a complete scene and my steps (broadly) for how I created the nature scene above. It’s a short video, so feel free to post comments in the YouTube comments section or over on Facebook!

Scene Workflow Summary

  • Play around – Find strong pieces that can be a focal point and play around with simple details first.
  • Emphasize the focal point – Build details around your focal point and create visual lines of interest that lead to the focal point.
  • Break up even lines and surface – Watch out for smooth lines and even surfaces and add detail to these areas to create more organic shapes.
  • Add narrative – Add personal details that make the scene come to life.

What would you like to see in the next video? At some point I’ll be reviewing SpeedTree with Blender, which is the industry standard for photorealistic CGI trees. Are there other tools you’d like me to show?
